London, Asharq Al-Awsat – At two simultaneous events held in London and Paris Wednesday night, EuroNews- the pan-European television news channel which celebrates its 15th year anniversary this year, launched its new 'look' and logo.

The channel's new logo is a simple white circle, and is the result of 2 years of work and research conducted by the European broadcaster and its communication agency, FFL.

The circle is meant to represent the channel's most defining characteristic "Purity", as was stated at the Central London launch party, held at the popular venue, Twentyfour.

"This is because EuroNews doesn't strive to impose opinions, and has none of that small talk between presenters, in fact it has no presenters at all…", spokespersons for both the channel and FFL said during the event before turning the audience's attention to a number of television screens to witness the channel's first-ever newscast under the new look and graphics at 7:30 PM (London Time).

The event, however, was also an opportunity to discuss EuroNews's new Arabic channel project.

In an exclusive interview for Asharq Al Awsat, Michael Peters, Managing Director of EuroNews, confirms that the launch date of the new Arabic channel will be the 13th of July of this year.

"There will be a launch party at The "Institute Du Monde Arabe" on the 12th, and the channel will be on air the very next day", he added.

Peters explains that EuroNews has secured a Five-year contract with the European Commission to secure finances for the new project at five Million Euros a year.

However, the channel will try to arrange other means of financing itself, says Peters while also confirming that EuroNews Arabic will seek to attract advertisers.

The channel will be broadcasting 24 hrs a day, and will be carried for free by major Arab satellite providers in the Middle East, as well as a live online broadcast.
